15 photos that show Prince Charles’ close bond with his grandchildren

Prince Charles is a devoted grandfather in addition to being the heir apparent to the British throne, patron or president of over 420 charities, and a husband and father. Prince William, his eldest son, has previously described him as “brilliant” in his familial role, and it’s clear that Charles takes his job seriously.

With the birth of Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s daughter, the future king became a grandfather for the fifth time in June 2021.

“The development of technology like electric vehicles, or green hydrogen for that matter for heavy transport, is vital for maintaining the health of our world for future generations, something I am only too aware of today, having recently become a grandfather for the fifth time,” Charles said during a visit to the Mini Factory in Cowley a few days later.

“Such happy news truly reminds one of the importance of continued innovation in this area – especially around sustainable battery technology – in light of the legacy we bequeath to our grandchildren,” he added.

Charles is a “brilliant” grandfather, according to William, who wishes he could spend more time with his grandchildren. “It’s something I’m working more heavily on, to put it that way,” William said when asked if Charles has time to be a grandfather. I believe he has time for it, but I would prefer that he spend more time with the kids.

“I believe he’s… Now that he’s 70 years old, it’s a good time to consolidate a little because, like most families, you’re concerned about having them around and ensuring their health. And, while he’s the fittest man I know, I want him to stay that way until he’s 95. So, having more time with him at home and being able to play with the grandchildren would be wonderful. Because he’s brilliant when he’s there. However, we require his presence as much as possible.”
