Nearly every married person hopes for a close relationship with their in-laws, and it appears that the Duke of Cambridge struck it rich. His relationship with Kate’s family, the Middletons, has gotten better and better after eleven years of blissful marriage.
Prince William has always been welcomed and included by his second family (and vice versa! ), whether it be on skiing excursions or group vacations in Mustique.
According to reports, the Duke asked the Queen to invite his wife’s family to the 2012 Diamond Jubilee celebrations, which included the Thames boat pageant and the Ascot carriage parade.
Before the pandemic, viewers could see the Cambridges bring their three kids to see Carole and Michael Middleton, Kate’s parents, in Bucklebury, with George, Charlotte, and Louis enjoying their grandparents’ company.
Let’s look at a few of the Duke’s most memorable interactions with his in-laws.
Pippa Middleton and Prince William

William and Kate dated for seven years before getting married in April 2011 at Westminster Abbey. In their younger years, Pippa Middleton, Kate’s sister, would frequently accompany Kate to watch William participate in charity polo matches. At one point, William even played in an old boys’ game at Eton College.
The Duke has matched the closeness between Kate and Pippa because they are both very close. On the Today show in 2014, Pippa discussed how close she is to her older sister and Kate’s husband, saying: “We are very near. And, you know, we listen to each other’s opinions and support one another.”
After she developed ties to the royal family, Pippa is said to have received “guidance and support” from William so that she could get used to the Firm’s protocol.
James Middleton and Prince William

Prince William was photographed joking around and having a good time with James Middleton, Kate’s younger brother, at Pippa’s wedding to James Matthews in 2017.
James and Prince William have always been close, but their friendship was seen as solidifying in 2019 after James wrote an opinion piece for the Daily Mail in which he discussed his three-year battle with depression.
I feel compelled to discuss it openly because this is precisely what my sister Catherine, brother-in-law Prince William, and Prince Harry are supporting through their mental health advocacy group Heads Together, he wrote. They are what motivates me to speak out, so I will.
Just before their English Cocker-Spaniel Lupo passed away in November of 2020, James gave the royal couple an eight-month-old puppy.
William Middleton and the Middletons

William and Kate occasionally spend Christmas with the Middletons in Berkshire, despite the fact that they usually spend it with the royal family at Sandringham.
The Duke promised Kate before their wedding that she wouldn’t have to spend the holidays apart from her family, and it appears that William has kept his word. On Christmas Day, the Cambridges are seen here attending church with William’s in-laws.
William the Prince and Michael Middleton

In 2018, Prince William made a five-day trip to the Middle East, stopping in Jerash, an ancient city. When they lived in Jordan in the 1980s, his wife Kate had gone to the ruins with her father Michael and sister Pippa.
When William came across an old photo of the group placed close to the exact same rock Kate had earlier played on, he laughed and remarked, “Michael’s looking very smart in his flip-flops.”
After attempting to recreate the image and being captured in the same location, the royal made the remark, “Need to come back with the family for this shot.”
William the Prince and Michael Middleton

When Michael Middleton and his daughter were accompanying the stunning royal bride down the aisle, William teased Michael, “Just a quiet family wedding, then,” before the two arrived at the altar.
In 2010, William got down on one knee in Kenya and asked his girlfriend to marry him without consulting Michael.
After their engagement was announced, he told Tom Bradby in a TV interview that he had been torn about asking Kate’s father first before realizing that he might actually say “no.”
But it seemed that William didn’t need to be concerned; when Kate’s parents learned the news, they were overjoyed. Since marrying Kate eleven years ago, William and his in-laws have a closer bond than ever.
