Scotland’s football fans have mocked Prince George after England narrowly lost the Euro 2020 final to Italy last night.
Prince George, seven, accompanied his parents, Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, to the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium. When England scored the first goal in the second minute, the young royal was overjoyed. Later, when the Three Lions lost in penalty shootouts, the heir to the throne appeared tense and upset.
Scottish supporters mocked pictures of George looking perplexed by the final result.
As the game went to penalties, Rebecca English, the royal editor of the Daily Mail, shared five photos of the youngster looking very concerned.
“Prince George sums up the mood of the nation #penalties #Euro2020Final #ENGITA,” she captioned the photo.
After England’s crushing defeat at the final hurdle, she shared a final image of the seven-year-old looking downcast, with Prince William placing his hand on his son’s shoulders.
“Doesn’t sum up the feeling in Scotland,” one person wrote in response to Ms English’s post.
“And this royal presence is supposed to persuade Scotland to remain in the union?” “Without a doubt.”
