Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis was disclosed to the public on Friday night in an open video, much to the sadness of royal watchers.
The King and Queen, as well as Kate’s family, were among the first to know about the news before it was released to the general public.
The Sunday Times has reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not notified, though.

It is believed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not speak to Kate or William prior to Friday night’s shocking revelation, which comes after weeks of rumors regarding the Princess’s condition. The couple swiftly issued a public statement expressing their support for their sister-in-law.
The paper’s royal editor, Roya Nikkhah, has spoken with multiple sources who have verified that the estranged brothers did not have a private conversation. It is thought that Harry and Meghan learned of the news concurrently with the wider public.
The only thing a spokesperson for Kensington Palace would say was, “We do not comment on private conversations.”
The video message, which the Princess had recorded in Windsor on Wednesday, was made public on Friday to coincide with the start of her kids’ Easter break at Lambrook School.

What did Kate say?
In January, Kate had major abdominal surgery, which she described in the brief video, and the procedure was successful. Since no tests had shown the presence of cancer, it was believed at the time that the condition was not cancerous.
She was started on a preventive chemotherapy course after post-operative tests revealed that cancer had been present.
The mother-of-three addressed her diagnosis in a private video message, saying, “William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. This came as a huge shock, of course.
“This has taken time, as you can imagine. In order to begin my treatment, I had to take some time to heal from a major surgery.

Above all, though, it has taken some time for us to reassure George, Charlotte, and Louis that everything will be alright and to explain everything to them in a way that is suitable for them.”
Kate went on, “By concentrating on the things that will support my healing—in my mind, body, and spirit—I am well and growing stronger every day. It also gives me a great deal of comfort and confidence to have William by my side.
As is the affection, encouragement, and kindness so many of you have shown. It is really important to us both.”
When were Prince William and Prince Harry last together?
As part of the Diana Legacy Award ceremony on Thursday, the Princes got back together to honor their late mother, Princess Diana. Prince Harry joined the event virtually, though Prince William was present in person, so the two did not even need to speak.

The last time Kate and Meghan were spotted together in public was when their husbands went on a walkabout to thank the public for their outpouring of kind messages after Queen Elizabeth II passed away.
Prince Harry, like his brother and sister-in-law, was present at the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla in May of last year. He left right away to return home to his family in California.
