The Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge have updated their social media handles to reflect their new titles, which King Charles III bestowed on Friday afternoon.
The couple’s Instagram handle has changed to @princeandprincessofwales, reflecting their new titles as the Prince and Princess of Wales.
HELLO! cited Royals sources. For the time being, William and Catherine will concentrate on “deepening the trust and respect of the people of Wales.”
The insider went on to say that Kate in particular “appreciates the history associated with this role but will understandably want to look to the future as she creates her own path” and that “The Prince and Princess of Wales will approach their roles in the modest and humble way they’ve approached their work previously.”
Diana, the mother of William, was the previous Princess of Wales.
In his Friday speech to the world, King Charles announced the new titles.
“I speak to you today with feelings of profound sorrow,” the new monarch declared hours after touching down in London on Friday. “Throughout her life, Her Majesty The Queen – my beloved Mother – was an inspiration and an example to me and to all my family, and we owe her the most heartfelt debt any family can owe to their mother; for her love, affection, guidance, understanding, and example.”
William succeeds me as Duke of Cornwall and assumes the responsibilities for the Duchy of Cornwall that I have undertaken for more than 50 years as my Heir, the monarch said. “As my Heir, William now assumes the Scottish titles that have meant so much to me.
“Today, I am honored to entitle him Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru, the nation whose title I have had the great honor to wear for a significant portion of my life and service.
“I know that with Catherine by his side, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will continue to inspire and guide our national discourse, assisting in elevating the underrepresented to the foreground where critical assistance can be provided.”
