Kate Middleton has ‘banned’ this word for Prince George, Charlotte & Louis

Prince William and Kate Middleton are hands-on parents to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, but they do have a special nanny.

When Prince George was around eight months old, Prince William and Duchess Kate hired Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo from the prestigious Norland College in Bath, and the nanny has been a trusted employee of the family ever since.

Did you know that Norland nannies are bound by strict guidelines when it comes to the language they can use in front of the kids? Continue reading to find out which word is allegedly forbidden in the Cambridge household – and it’s not a swear word!

An interview with author Louise Heren, who wrote Nanny in a Book, revealed how Norland nannies look after their charges – and the language they are taught to avoid with children.

Louise spent a year at the college researching a documentary, according to the Mirror, and told the publication that there is one word that nannies are never taught to say while working with children. ‘The word is simply ‘kids’.

It’s surprising to learn that such a common word is forbidden, but Louise explained the reasoning behind the rule. Louise stated, ” “The term “kid” is forbidden. It’s a sign of deference to the kids as individuals.”

Given that this is a college rule, it’s safe to assume that Duchess Kate’s nanny Maria follows it with the royal children.

“Kids, dinner is ready,” rather than “George, Charlotte, Louis, dinner is ready,” is far more efficient. We do, however, appreciate the emphasis on children as individuals.
