Kate Middleton spent a lovely afternoon with the Earl and Countess of Wessex, as well as Princess Alexandra, at a garden party at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday. The Queen’s London residence hosted her second garden party of the year, but due to her mobility issues, Her Majesty was unable to attend and will not be attending similar events this spring.

Kate, Edward, and Sophie were all smiles as they dressed up in their finest daywear and mingle with the hundreds of guests who had been invited to the special occasion. While the Earl looked dapper in a top hat and tails, the Duchess and Countess wore summer dresses and hats that matched.

Kate, 40, wore a bright pink Emilia Wickstead dress with a matching Jane Taylor hat.

At a garden party at Buckingham Palace, Kate Middleton was joined by Prince Edward and Sophie.

Every year, up to three garden parties are held in London’s Buckingham Palace Garden, as well as one in Edinburgh’s Palace of Holyroodhouse. The first party was hosted by Prince Charles and Camilla last week, and the second was attended by a larger royal party on Wednesday. Kate, Edward, and Sophie split up and walked down different ‘lanes,’ meeting and chatting with as many people as they could.

The royal family’s calendar is filled with garden parties, which Kate has previously attended with her husband Prince William. Edward and Sophie have also made appearances on a regular basis.

As she walked around the event, the mother of three waved to guests.

In a floral-patterned dress and hat, the Countess of Wessex also looked lovely.

The royal party also included Princess Alexandra.

Every year, Her Majesty invites over 30,000 visitors to spend a relaxing afternoon in her royal residences’ beautiful gardens. These public events give the Queen the opportunity to meet and speak with people from all walks of life who have made a positive impact in their communities.
The absence of the monarch will undoubtedly disappoint this year’s attendees, but they will be relieved that the parties will continue after being canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.
Around 27,000 cups of tea are served at a typical garden party, along with 20,000 sandwiches and 20,000 cake slices.
