In spite of the fact that Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, are getting ready to celebrate American Mother’s Day on Sunday with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, she is still considering other mothers who might not have the same resources as she does.
The Duchess of Sussex has been pictured before her special day showing her support for an Alliance of Moms initiative that aims to increase public awareness of “expectant and parenting foster youth” in Los Angeles.
In a picture posted on Instagram by Kelly McKee Zajfen, co-founder of Alliance of Moms, Meghan is beaming while proudly sporting a “Community Motherhood” T-shirt and wrapping her arm around Kelly. Kelly gushed about Meghan’s “incredibly nurturing” nature in the caption of the picture.
As Mother’s Day draws near, she wrote, “I can’t help but think of my own #commUNITY of Motherhood. You come to mind right away, Meg. How incredibly kind, welcoming, and open you are. What a wonderful mother and friend. I am so appreciative that you are a part of my #CommUNITYofmotherhood and truly in awe of you.
“You are always the first to say yes and to support those you love,” she continued. You fight tenaciously to help those who are in need. We appreciate your participation in this year’s campaign to support foster youth who are expecting or already parenting in Los Angeles. Your support helps provide them with advocacy, education, and other essential services so they can improve their futures and those of their families.
Although it’s unclear how Meghan will honor mothers this year, it’s likely that the family will observe the holiday quietly at their Montecito, California, home.
Meghan and Harry posted a stunning picture of baby Archie for his first Mother’s Day on Instagram, revealing to fans a glimpse of his tiny feet as they posed in front of a backdrop of forget-me-nots, Princess Diana’s favorite flowers.
Paying tribute to all mothers today – past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered – was the heartfelt caption that made reference to Diana. Each and every one of you is honored, and we celebrate you.
The couple has previously donated publicly to the local charity Harvest Home L.A. The non-profit organization that supports expectant mothers and their children also received donations of “diapers, cleaning supplies, and other essential items” from them.
The Duchess expressed her appreciation for the value of nurturing environments, safe and easily accessible pregnancy resources, and community support in a private letter that was published in 2021.
“These components are crucial to both our physical and mental health, and I applaud you for leading a compassionate community that embodies these values,” she said.
Thank you for everything you do for the mothers and women who are turned away elsewhere through no fault of their own, she continued. We gain perspective on how challenging it can be for pregnant women of color and those who come from under-resourced and vulnerable communities when we consider how vulnerable any mother feels during the vulnerable stage of pregnancy. I sincerely hope you will accept my offer of assistance in furthering the residents of Harvest Home’s uplift.
