Meghan Markle will not be present at King Charles III’s coronation; instead, she will stay at home in Montecito to celebrate Prince Archie’s fourth birthday.
The Daily Telegraph reported on Saturday that one of the reasons Meghan wouldn’t be present at the historic occasion was that she felt “unsatisfied” with King Charles’ response when she brought up the subject of unconscious bias within the Royal Family. The Duchess of Sussex allegedly wrote to the then Prince of Wales after she and Prince Harry appeared on Oprah Winfrey in 2021.
The Duchess of Sussex’s spokesperson responded to the article by telling HELLO! that the royal is “going about her life in the present, not thinking about correspondence from two years ago related to conversations from four years ago.
Any insinuation to the contrary is false and frankly absurd. We admonish tabloid media and various royal correspondents to put an end to the tiresome circus they are generating on their own.
The identity of the senior royal who inquired about Prince Archie’s skin tone was allegedly revealed in the letters that Meghan and Charles exchanged, with both Meghan and Charles agreeing that the remark was not made “maliciously.”
The Duchess claimed that the then-Duchess of Cambridge brought tears to her eyes over the dresses of her flower girls, though she did add that Kate later apologized, in a bombshell moment during her 2021 interview with Oprah.
Additionally, Meghan admitted in the interview that she “didn’t want to be alive,” adding: “It was a very real and frightening constant thought. Harry simply cradled me as I recall, and when I went to the institution to ask for help, I was told I couldn’t because it wouldn’t be in the institution’s best interests.
Despite not attending in person, Meghan was featured in the Coronation’s official souvenir program. A family portrait taken in 2018 to commemorate the King’s 70th birthday can be found in the 84-page glossy magazine, which went on sale on Monday.
The photo, which is prominently displayed, shows Prince George, who is laughing, sitting on his grandfather’s lap next to Charles and Camilla, while Princess Charlotte is snuggled up next to the Queen Consort.
A beaming Prince and Princess of Wales, who is holding infant Prince Louis, are positioned behind the King. William’s brother Harry is seated next to him, and Meghan is standing by his side, also giggling.
There is no doubt that tension exists between Harry and Meghan as well as the rest of his family. It was revealed over the weekend that Queen Camilla was “hurt” by Harry’s disparaging remarks about her in his open-book memoir, Spare.
