Meghan Markle Was Warned: ‘You Don’t Want to Be a Princess!’

It all seemed too good to be true until it wasn’t. Many royal fans recall Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle. The royal wedding of an American TV star and a British prince in front of millions of viewers around the world looked like something out of a storybook to anyone who watched it.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex couldn’t have looked happier on that day, but less than two years later, they stepped down from their roles as senior royals and moved to California. Meghan and Harry publicly painted a picture of royal life that seemed more like a nightmare a few months later. No one knows for sure what happened behind the gates of the palace, but Meghan’s expectations were not met, and some tried to warn her about it.

When Meghan began dating Harry, a friend warned her that she would lose her privacy.

Meghan told her agent and friend Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne about seeing England’s most eligible bachelor when they first started dating.

Nelthorpe-Cowne told the Daily Mail that she remembered Meghan being overjoyed, and while she was happy for her, she tried to warn her about what would happen once the press learned of their relationship. Meghan, on the other hand, didn’t seem to care. “This is a serious situation. ‘This is the end of your normal life, the end of your privacy–everything,’ said Nelthorpe-Cowne. Meghan, on the other hand, simply raised her hand and said, ‘Save it.’ I’m not looking for any negativity. This is a joyous occasion for us.”

Meghan ended her collaboration with Nelthorpe-Cowne a week before she announced her engagement to Prince Harry, and the two haven’t spoken since.

2.A royal expert attempted to warn the now-duchess, saying, “I don’t believe you want to be a princess.”

Some speculate that the Suits star imagined that marrying a prince would entitle her to live in a castle, be pampered, and attend lavish dinner parties in beautiful gowns. Being a member of Queen Elizabeth’s family, however, entails performing hundreds of royal duties, being photographed everywhere you go, and having your every move scrutinized by the public.

Journalist Jeremy Paxman is well aware of this. He is a broadcaster, a presenter, and very knowledgeable about the royal family, according to the Express. In 2018, while hosting the documentary The Royal Wives of Windsor, he issued a warning to the future Duchess of Sussex about any misconceptions about what it means to marry a royal.

“Every girl dreams of being a princess, and actually I don’t think you want to become a princess if you can avoid it,” he said of the realities of marrying into The Firm.

3.Even Prince Harry forewarned his bride-to-be about life as a royal.

If you’re wondering why Prince Harry didn’t warn Meghan Markle about life in his family and under the royal microscope, the answer is that he did.

During their first joint interview after the announcement of their engagement in 2017, Harry said that as their relationship progressed, he had serious talks with Meghan about that very subject. The transition into royal life, according to the Duke of Sussex, is “not easy for anyone.” Even so, I had to have some pretty candid conversations with her to say, ‘You know what you’re getting yourself into?’
