The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's love story began at Soho House in 2016

Meghan Markle’s inconsistencies with secret Prince Harry first date explained

According to legend, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a quick one-hour date in 2016 at Soho House in London, which marked the beginning of their whirlwind romance. Have you, however, noticed the misunderstanding surrounding their courtship and marriage?

The Duke of Sussex revealed personal information about their quiet encounter in his book Spare. Meghan was travelling to the UK to watch Wimbledon between her hectic work schedule while filming Suits in Canada. After arriving at 76 Dean Street late, he talked about his initial thoughts of Meghan, describing her as a “heart-attack beautiful” actress.

“Red-cheeked, puffing, sweaty, half an hour late, I ran into the restaurant, into the quiet room, and found her sitting at a small area on a low velvet sofa in front of a low coffee table,” he remembered.

“She had on heels, jeans and a black jumper. Even though I had no fashion sense, I could tell she was stylish. On the other hand, she had the ability to style anything.

“She looked so glamorous and glossy in the pictures I’d seen of her from TV sets and fashion shoots, but here she was, real, unadorned, unfiltered. and even more exquisite. Heart-attack gorgeous.”

Meghan remembered their first date in sharp contrast to his glowing description of his future bride. The former actress disclosed the covert nod to their first encounter during the 2018 royal wedding.

She admitted, glancing at the exhibit of her Givenchy bateau-neck wedding gown, “There’s a piece of – did you see it? – somewhere in here. The blue piece of fabric stitched inside? It’s the blue thing I have. It’s made of fabric that was part of my first date outfit.”

The story of Meghan’s “something blue” was confirmed by designer Clare Waight Keller, who told Vanity Fair, “We basically sewed it into the hem of the wedding dress, so she was the only one that knew that it was there.” It was a tiny gingham check in blue.”

Was Meghan donning a cute blue gingham check dress or just jeans and a jumper? Given that Meghan’s official first date lasted only an hour at Soho House before she went out to dinner with a friend, it’s possible that both of them were right. Reportedly, she became “so forward and American” and made a call to the royal that night, requesting to go out to dinner the next night, in order to get more time together.

The roles were reversed at the time, and Meghan arrived late for the meeting. His wife, mocking him for being “quite flustered,” retorted, “I hate being late.” After returning from Wimbledon, I wanted to go home, take a shower, and then go out looking more like myself because you know, I like to look more like myself.”

Harry and Meghan, the Netflix docuseries, featured a picture of the couple cuddling up for a selfie, with Meghan donning a sleeveless shirt. It’s therefore possible that she was referring to the dress from their first date, which was actually their second date after the wedding.

In 2017, Prince Harry proposed in the garden of Nottingham Cottage, their previous residence at Kensington Palace. He got Meghan’s dog Gus and set up a picnic blanket and electric candles before giving her a custom trilogy diamond engagement ring.

Meghan wore two stunning wedding gowns: a modern Givenchy gown for the ceremony and a Stella McCartney halterneck dress for the evening reception at Frogmore House. The couple exchanged vows on May 18, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

Harry, on the other hand, chose to wear his black military uniform during the day, changing into a tux and bow tie for the private festivities, where they watched fireworks and danced to Wilson Pickett’s “Land of 1,000 Dances.”
