Mystery as Meghan Markle is announced as a guest of Jimmy Fallon – and then cancelled

Fans of Meghan Markle were taken aback on Monday night when it was revealed that the royal would be a December guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The mother-of-two would “appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on December 7, 2022,” according to a message on the NBC website, which also provided instructions on how to view the interview.

The excitement did not last long, however, as fans soon learned that the much-anticipated US talk show appearance would not be happening after all.

The error was later acknowledged by an NBC representative, who stated: “Earlier today, it was incorrectly reported that Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, would be appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on December 7.”

Even though Meghan was originally supposed to appear on the program at the end of September to advertise her podcast Archetypes, the appearance may still happen in the future.

The interview was set to air during the royal family’s period of mourning, but the appearance was postponed out of respect for the Queen, who had died earlier in the month.

As their Netflix docuseries will finally premiere in early December, Meghan and Prince Harry are likely scheduled to appear on a number of shows in the upcoming weeks.

According to rumors, the couple’s new project, which will feature their “love story,” is scheduled to air on December 8th. Although the final title of their project has not yet been disclosed, it is believed that the initial title was Chapters.

The Sussexes are set to share their lives in a much-anticipated new show

Meghan responded last month to a question regarding the docuseries in her Variety cover story: “Even though it might not be how we would have told the story, it’s nice to be able to trust a seasoned director whose work I’ve long admired with it. But that isn’t the reason we’re telling you. Our story will be seen through their eyes because we trusted them with it.”
