According to recent reports, Prince Archie and Prince George have the same godfather—Hugh Grosvenor, one of Prince William and Prince Harry’s closest friends—but the youngest Prince will not be able to attend Hugh’s 2024 wedding because of the ongoing royal dispute.
Hugh, the Duke of Westminster, and his fiancée Olivia Henson have chosen not to extend an invitation to Harry and Meghan for their wedding. According to The Times, their desire is “to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia,” as well as “to avoid a family clash in the House of Windsor.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as King Charles and Queen Camilla, are reportedly invited to the special day at Chester Cathedral on June 7, 2024.
Since Prince William is rumored to be vying to be the best man, Archie’s cousin Prince George is anticipated to be involved in the wedding. Hugh, 33, is also the second-in-line to the throne. Prince William’s godmother is Hugh’s mother.
The godparents of Archie and Princess Lilibet have never been revealed by the Sussexes, but it is believed that Tiggy Pettifer, William and Harry’s former nanny, Mark Dyer, a former equerry to the King, and Harry’s buddy Charlie van Straubenzee were all asked to be Archie’s godparents.
Tyler Perry acknowledged that he was asked to be Lili’s godfather in the couple’s Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan.

Hugh is the third child of Gerald and his wife Natalia Phillips. He has three sisters: Lady Edwina, 41, who is married to TV presenter and historian Dan Snow, Lady Tamara, 42, who married one of William’s best friends, Edward van Cutsem, and Lady Viola, 29.
In 2016, the 32-year-old took over as the Duke of Westminster after his father. By then, he was only twenty-five. His estimated net worth in 2023 was £9.42 billion, according to Bloomberg, making him one of the richest men in Britain.
At his family’s Eaton Hall in Cheshire, he proposed earlier this year. The couple announced their happy news and shared a beautiful engagement picture that was taken at Eaton Estate.
The couple released a statement saying, “The Duke of Westminster and Miss Olivia Henson are delighted to announce they are engaged to be married.” “The pair, who have been dating for two years, recently got engaged at Eaton Hall, the Duke’s Cheshire estate. The news has delighted members of both their families immensely. In addition to serving as Grosvenor’s Chair, Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, also chairs the Westminster Foundation.”
In 2020, Harry and Meghan withdrew from their royal duties and moved to Montecito, CA.

The relationship between Harry and his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, has been strained in recent years. This is especially true following the publication of Harry’s memoir, Spare, which described a physical altercation between the brothers at Nottingham Cottage in 2019 and claimed that William and Kate had approved of him dressing up as a Nazi for a costume party in 2005.
