In this stunning new portrait created by the Duchess of Cambridge to commemorate Prince George’s ninth birthday, he exudes joy.
During a family vacation to the UK earlier this month, William and Kate’s oldest son was captured beaming widely at the camera as he played on a beach.
He appears at ease and a long way from some of his recent public appearances as he takes advantage of the extended summer break while donning a straightforward pale blue polo shirt.
In the past few months, George has been spotted in a suit and tie while watching Wimbledon’s Men’s Singles Final in the royal box, as well as accompanying his parents on an official visit to Cardiff to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
In recent years, the third in line to the throne has appeared more frequently in public, following in the footsteps of his father Prince William, who visited Cardiff and Wimbledon at nearly the same age.
George participated in the Jubilee festivities by attending the Platinum Party at the Palace and the Platinum Jubilee Pageant, as well as making two appearances on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
He still has plenty of time, especially during the lengthy summer break from school, for carefree outdoor play away from the spotlight, as this adorable photo by Kate demonstrates.
After the children’s summer session at Thomas’s, Battersea ended on July 8, the Duke and Duchess were seen leaving Kensington Palace by helicopter with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, as well as their pet dog Orla.
The new picture of George is the most recent in a line of close-up pictures of the royal kids that their mother, the Duchess, has taken to commemorate their accomplishments.
Kate is renowned for baking all of their birthday cakes herself, in addition to sharing official birthday photos. She admitted as much in 2019: “I enjoy baking the cake. It’s kind of become a tradition for me to bake excessive amounts of cake mix and icing while up until midnight. Yet I adore it.”
