Despite being the youngest member of his family, Prince Louis has a big personality and wasn’t afraid to express it during King Charles’ coronation. The five-year-old attended the historic event at Westminster Abbey on May 6 along with his parents, Prince William and Princess Catherine, and siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Louis was seen briefly attending the ceremony before he and his nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, quietly left in the middle of the two-hour ceremony. The child, who missed his great-grandmother Elizabeth II’s funeral in September, is attending his first significant formal event.
Due to his youth, his exit was planned to give him some time away from the cameras; however, he later returned to the festivities for the King’s Procession and a balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace.
Louis couldn’t help but win over the hearts of fans with his cheeky expressions, which he became known for after his appearances at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations and the Easter Mattins service. While the attention was firmly on King Charles and Queen Camilla, who were crowned in front of 2,000 guests at the country’s first coronation to be staged in 70 years, Louis couldn’t help but win over the hearts of fans with his smile.
The son of the Prince and Princess of Wales sat front row with his elder sister, and he couldn’t resist the urge to divert her attention during the ceremony by pointing out something.
Louis wasn’t just looking elsewhere at this particular time; he was also seen staring up at the ceiling in the middle of the service.
Louis was frequently seen yawning, indicating that he did not get enough sleep the night before the coronation. He may have stayed up late due to his excitement for the royal event.
The young prince gave the cameras his best half-smile as he and his parents left Westminster Abbey.
Louis also observed the people on the carriage ride to Buckingham Palace, but he might not have realized they were also observing him as he put on a dejected expression.
Louis took advantage of his distracted siblings and let out another yawn as Charlotte looked out the other side of the carriage and George appeared to be thinking deeply.
At one point, he even adopted a startled expression while sporting a playful expression as he observed the people gathered in the streets.
Watch Louis blowing raspberries, too!
Louis appeared to clap along with the crowd during his Buckingham Palace balcony appearance, which was adorable. Royals like Princess Catherine and Duchess Sophie waved to the crowds.
Prince Louis had a clear view of the flypast of the Red Arrows and other aircraft from the Royal Navy, Army Air Corps, and Royal Air Force. Something made the young Prince shout; we’re not sure if it was the impressive sight or the sound of the aircraft.
In case she hadn’t noticed the flypast, he later pointed it out to his mother, who displayed the appropriate amount of excitement.
Louis was extra expressive as he started to stick his tongue out while the others were giggling.
