It seems that many members of the royal family have a sweet tooth.
During a visit to the Duchy College in Cornwall, Prince William disclosed the dessert that his wife, the Princess of Wales, truly loves.
William toured Sam’s Café, the college’s student and staff gathering place, after visiting the criminology department. There, he was shown one of his favorite cakes, the chilled breakfast cake, which served as one of the layers of William’s wedding cake. The dessert, which consists of chocolate, butter, sugar, cream, and biscuits, was also a favorite of the late Queen.
Chef Darren Watson, who had been doing extensive research to find the desserts that the royal family enjoyed, presented the cake to William.
William confirmed that Catherine’s favorite pudding was a sticky toffee pudding when Darren told him about it, stating, “Very good.”
After being shown the biscuit cake, the heir to the throne told Darren, “Thank you very much, that’s very sweet of you, any kind of sweet thing I will take, I’m a sucker for anything chocolate and anything sweet.”
After William succeeded his father as Duke of Cornwall, he acquired ownership of the Duchy of Cornwall’s grounds, where the college is located. Originally scheduled to tour the college earlier this year, the royal’s visit was postponed due to Catherine’s cancer diagnosis.
“It was really important that he did this today, he just felt so connected to the students and the staff, I’m absolutely delighted,” said Jon Bosworth, the principal and CEO of the Cornwall College Group, in reference to the royal’s visit.
“You could tell he was associated with the college the moment he stepped down that hill because of its longstanding history and partnership with the Duchy. He felt like a member of the team rather than a guest.”
Catherine usually prefers something with a spicier flavor, but William has mentioned that he has a sweet tooth. When questioned about her favorite takeaway in an interview on BBC Radio 1, the former Duchess of Cambridge responded, “Curry, definitely.”
“It doesn’t usually get ordered to the palace, we tend to go and pick it up,” the couple continued, before the amusing remark, “not ourselves!”
