On Wednesday, Prince William went to the London Air Ambulance Charity Gala Dinner. He thanked the guests for their well wishes regarding his father, King Charles.
The Prince made a fleeting mention of his father’s and wife’s medical conditions in a brief but moving speech two days after the public learned of the monarch’s cancer diagnosis.

“Good evening, everyone,” he said. I appreciate everyone being here. I also want to thank everyone whose efforts have made this evening possible. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for the kind messages of support that you have sent to my father and Catherine, especially in the last few days. It is very important to all of us. One could say that the last few weeks have been largely “medical” in nature. I decided to attend an air ambulance event in order to escape everything.
But seriously, we’re here tonight to help as many people as we can receive first-rate medical attention under the soaring lifelines of London’s Air Ambulance. As a former pilot for East Anglia Air Ambulance, I am well aware of the critical role that air ambulance teams nationwide play in providing emergency medical care wherever injuries occur, often saving lives.

The current aircraft have performed admirably here in London. But a new fleet is needed in our capital city. We are also running out of time. The name of the appeal is actually the hint. We need the two new red birds in our skies by September, equipped with the newest technology like night vision.
I know you wouldn’t be here if you needed a lot of convincing. Await hearing Milana’s account later on, though, as she describes how the Air Ambulance and its amazing teams have given her a second chance at life.
“I should also use this chance to mention Tom Cruise, one of our fellow pilots. Tom, many thanks for being here with us tonight. And Tom, I would really appreciate it if you wouldn’t mind lending us neither of the new helicopters for the upcoming Mission Impossible.

“Everyone has seen on our screens that, in a word, you seem to view ‘normal wear and tear’ differently than the rest of us. It’s not the type that gets stronger. Nevertheless, I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone for coming tonight and for supporting such a worthy cause. Every single one of you has saved a life.”
The royal father-of-three is the charity’s patron, and he has a personal connection to the organization since he flew emergency medical service missions for East Anglia Air Ambulance from March 2015 to July 2017.
During a visit to the Blue Light Hub last year, a new operational base for the South Central Ambulance Service, Thames Valley Police, and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, he talked candidly about the emotional toll of this demanding role.

“I was holding everything and doing it all,” he declared. I did have my armor on at a few times. I brought it home, and that’s when it started… It worries me when people retire. Our ability to manage long-term health needs to improve.”
After the recent abdominal surgery of the Princess of Wales and the cancer diagnosis of King Charles, he is currently going through another difficult period. The heir apparent will add more duties to his already full schedule while the monarch receives medical attention.
This development occurs shortly after Kensington Palace, just hours before the King’s condition was made public, announced William’s return to official duties.

There’s no word on when the King will fully recover and resume public appearances, and it’s expected that Catherine will keep a low profile until after Easter.
King Charles, who is renowned for his hard work ethic, still plans to handle his official documents and state affairs behind closed doors. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed on Wednesday that the King and he will continue to meet once a week; this week’s meeting was conducted over the phone.
Additionally, he will still hold monthly meetings with the Privy Council, which may be done virtually. We don’t yet know how the King’s health will impact upcoming royal engagements and tours.

Meanwhile, William might take center stage at momentous events like the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Commonwealth Day service.
The Prince attended the gala on Wednesday after performing a customary royal duty at Windsor Castle: an investiture. A succinct but upbeat statement regarding the King’s health was released by Buckingham Palace on Monday.
It stated as follows: “His Majesty has started a regimen of routine treatments today. Doctors have advised him to put off public appearances during this time.

His Majesty will carry out routine official paperwork and State business during this time. The King is appreciative of his medical team’s prompt intervention. He is still entirely satisfied with his care and eager to get back to doing his official duties as soon as possible.”
