She resembles her mother exactly! Even though Princess Charlotte is developing into a woman who is every bit as refined and kind as her mother, the Princess of Wales, the royal couple looked identical on Christmas Day, and we were too caught up in the celebrations to notice their little sisterhood.
Underneath her striking “Bow and Arrow” cocktail hat by Juliette Millinery—which resembled the one Zara Tindell wore to the Cheltenham races back in 2019—Catherine had her hair pulled back into a pretty braid. This was all we could see.
Princess Charlotte, 8, followed in her parents’ footsteps by bravely approaching the crowd that had gathered outside St. Mary Magdalene Church to have a moment with the royals as they returned to Sandringham for their Christmas celebrations. Like her mother, she also had her hair styled in two lovely plaits, keeping it neatly out of her face.
Catherine appears to have mastered the art of hairstyling these days. The modest mother admitted during a royal engagement in 2019 that her attempts to style her daughter Charlotte’s hair weren’t always successful when she praised some young Cumbrian girls who had “pretty” plaits on their heads.
The Princess disclosed that she had been pressed for time to get little Charlotte ready for nursery before leaving on her royal tour, and she acknowledged that she had encountered difficulties that morning. “I tried to do a plait on Charlotte this morning, and it didn’t really work very well,” she said with a grin.
Royals frequently wear their hair in braids or plaits. The attractive yet functional hairstyle is always in style, from loose single braids to fishtail looks and multi-plait styles. A favourite of the Princess of Wales, they have also been worn over the years by other royals like Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Beatrice, and Queen Letizia of Spain.
Another thing that makes the future Queen famous is that she is a twin with her little daughter Charlotte. When the two of them volunteered at a baby bank shortly before Christmas, they wore matching holiday sweaters. They opted for cosy turtleneck jumpers.
Although Catherine has been wearing her hair down in long waves lately, her little daughter Charlotte has been sporting plaits for many royal events in the past few years.
The plaited half-up, half-down style is a clear favourite of the young royal, and it’s very simple to achieve. Just take a small portion of the crown’s hair, gently braid the hair from each side, and fasten it with a band before finishing it with a ribbon. It’s a great way to keep hair out of the face while maintaining a really adorable yet put together look.
