HELLO! comprehends that King Charles personally informed his son, the Duke of Sussex, of his cancer diagnosis.
The 75-year-old monarch is said to have told his younger son about his shocking medical news before making the announcement via a statement from Buckingham Palace.
Additionally, a source close to Harry claims that the Duke, who resides in California with his spouse Meghan Markle and their two kids, will visit his father in the UK in the days ahead.
The palace announced on Monday night that Charles has started a regimen of routine treatments after receiving a cancer diagnosis. He has also put off doing public appearances for the time being, but he is still “wholly positive” about his care.
He will carry out his regular duties, including official paperwork and state business.
“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted,” the statement stated in part. A type of cancer has been identified by further diagnostic testing.
“Thanks to a recent hospital procedure, the King is grateful to his medical team for their prompt intervention. He is still entirely satisfied with his care and eager to get back to doing his official duties as soon as possible.
“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
