Catherine visited the royal residence this week

The Princess of Wales pays visit to Windsor Castle for special reason

This week, Princess Catherine paid a special, solo visit to Windsor Castle. The royal, who relocated to Berkshire last year with her husband Prince William and their three children, joined the royal household on Thursday to greet a number of distinguished visitors.

Ian Hewitt, the vice chairman of Wimbledon’s host club, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, was greeted by Catherine.

The Princess oversees The Championships’ daily operations and serves as the club’s official royal patron. The royal is a huge tennis fan and is frequently spotted sitting next to Prince William in the royal box to watch the thrilling action between the sport’s top players. However, Catherine’s role at Wimbledon goes beyond what happens off the court.

Prince George, the son of the royal couple, made his debut in the royal box in 2022 and is a huge tennis fan as well. Additionally, the young prince had the good fortune to train with tennis champion Roger Federer!

Catherine has the honor of presenting the Women’s and Men’s trophies at the conclusion of each Wimbledon tournament. Catherine presided over Ashleigh Barty’s victory in the women’s singles final and Novak Djokovic’s victory in the men’s singles final last year.

As we count down the months until the 2023 tournament, the vice chairman and the royal undoubtedly had a lot to talk about. This year’s championship will begin on Monday, July 3, and end on Sunday, July 16.

Catherine also met with Major General Christopher Ghika, Regimental Lieutenant Colonel of the Irish Guards, and Lieutenant Colonel James Aldridge, Commanding Officer, during her Thursday visit to Windsor Castle.
