Last week,Prince William commemorated the 60th birthday of his late mother, Princess Diana of Wales. Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, reunited in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace to unveil a long-awaited statue of the Princess.
At HELLO!, royal fans, charities, and celebrities shared some of their favourite Diana photos. We couldn’t help but notice the Princess’s and her eldest son, Prince William’s striking resemblance.
The Duke and his mother have a nose and smile that are strikingly similar, as evidenced by side-by-side photos.
“They are like two peas in a pod,” one Twitter user said, while another added, “They have the same nose.” A third person stated: “His mother’s son is William. He would make her so happy.”
Diana died tragically in a car accident in Paris in 1997 when William was only 15 years old.
The royal brothers paid tribute to their mother in a joint statement released on Friday after the statue unveiling, saying: “We remember our mother’s love, strength, and character today, on what would have been her 60th birthday – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.
“Every day, we wish she could be here with us, and we hope that this statue will serve as a constant reminder of her life and legacy.
“Thank you to Ian Rank-Broadley, Pip Morrison, and their teams for their outstanding work, as well as the friends and donors who made this possible, and to everyone who keeps our mother’s memory alive around the world.”
Royal fans have also noticed a resemblance between Prince William’s childhood photos and those of his daughter, Princess Charlotte.
In fact, when the Duke of Cambridge visited Bradford in 2020, he mistook a photograph of himself for Charlotte.
William enquired of the woman who baked the cupcakes with the royals’ pictures on them: “Is that you, sir? Don’t you think it’s Charlotte?” “It looks so much like Charlotte,” Kate exclaimed, astounded. “Is that you?” William inquired again.
When it was confirmed that the photo was of him and not Charlotte, he said: “Oh, wow, that looks exactly like Charlotte. It’s incredible; I’ve never seen anything like it. In terms of similarity, they are very similar. Well done, you’ve put in a lot of effort. Right now, Mary Berry would be blown away. Incredible.”
