In a video posted to the Prince of Wales’ YouTube channel, royal fans have discovered what they think is a sign that Prince Harry and Prince William’s strained relationship still has hope.
Viewers get a peek inside the Waleses’ Kensington Palace residence in a sleek video made for the Prince and Princess of Wales that provides a behind-the-scenes look at the Coronation weekend.
In one video, eight-year-old Princess Charlotte is seen bursting into the living room and darting past the piano, which is covered in pictures.
Additionally, one of the images is a touching tribute to Prince William’s late mother and brother because it depicts the trio together.
The image of the young brothers cuddling up to Princess Diana in the black-and-white photograph appeared on the front of her 1995 holiday card to friends and family.
William rests his head on Diana’s shoulder to one side as she beams in the center of the picture. Harry does the same on the opposite side, encircling his mother with his arm.
According to The Mirror, despite their deteriorating relationship, keen-eyed royal fans on TikTok noticed the photo, which is prominently displayed on the piano, and believed it symbolized the significant place Prince Harry still holds in Prince William’s life.
One royal fan wrote on the platform after seeing a clip, “I really wish Harry and William could get together. Diana would be inconsolable.”
In 2020, when Prince Harry, then 38, and Meghan Markle, then 41, moved to California and resigned as senior royals, a rift started to form between the troubled brothers.
The siblings haven’t spoken much since the relocation, but the Duke of Sussex’s memoir Spare and his £88 million Netflix documentary Harry and Meghan give his perspective on their tense relationship behind the scenes.
Harry claimed that his older brother lost his temper during heated discussions about the Duke’s potential future position within the royal family in the six-part documentary that premiered last December.
When the family gathered around the table at Sandringham to discuss Harry’s “half in, half out” proposition, he recalled that it was “terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, my father say things that just simply weren’t true, and my grandmother quietly sit there and sort of take it all in.”
Harry also described a shocking physical altercation he claimed had occurred between the brothers at Frogmore Cottage following a dispute over Meghan when Spare was published in January.
The Duke asserted that during a meeting about “the whole rolling catastrophe” of their failing relationship and Harry’s arguments with the Press, his brother called Meghan “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive.” The Duke insisted he was trying to help his younger brother.
According to the book, Harry then accused his brother of “parroting the Press narrative” about his American wife before a screaming match broke out and resulted in a fight. The heir to the throne allegedly received a glass of water from him along with the words, “Willy, I can’t speak to you when you’re like this.”
The former soldier described what allegedly occurred next and insisted he was terrified, saying: “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me.” It all happened very quickly. So quickly. My necklace was torn off as he grabbed me by the collar and threw me to the ground.”
I hit the dog’s bowl, which broke and splintered under my back, slicing into me. I lay there for a moment feeling confused before getting up and telling him to leave.
The legacy of their late mother Diana, who passed away in a car accident in Paris in 1997, is one thing that has been known to bind the brothers together since they first drifted apart in 2020.
In July 2021, they got back together to dedicate a statue that they had both worked on commissioning in honor of their mother.
Later that day, the brothers issued a joint statement in which they honored Princess Diana, which was seen by many as a sign of their unity.
We wish she were still here every day, and we hope that this statue will always be regarded as a representation of her life and her legacy.
“Today, on what would have been our Mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength, and character—qualities that made her a force for good around the world, improving countless lives.”
