Meghan was at an event for entrepreneurs

Duchess of Sussex reappears in Montecito just days before Prince Archie’s fifth birthday

9 to 5 at work! On Thursday, May 2, the Duchess of Sussex was observed attending a networking event in her hometown of Montecito, California.

Meghan was sitting in the front row at the event organised by Greycroft, which is described as “a seed-to-growth venture capital firm that partners with entrepreneurs who are striving to build category-defining companies across intelligent consumer and enterprise applications, AI infrastructure, sustainability, and consumer products.” Meghan had her hair loose and was dressed in a neutral-toned shirt.

They’ve collaborated with companies like Axios and Bumble.

The event took place at the Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel in Montecito, and featured a speech by growth investor Brian Bustamante-Nicholson. He stated that all attendees had been invited because “we want to work with you as investors and entrepreneurs, and we can’t wait to build with you all”.

Since she and her husband, Prince Harry, left the British royal family in 2021, Meghan has been paving her own way as a businesswoman, so her arrival is not shocking.

Meghan’s business ventures are plenty

The two have signed deals with Netflix and hosted an award-winning podcast in addition to the Archewell Foundation. Meghan is soon to launch her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which will sell everything from yoga mats to shower gels to jams and jellies.

Additionally, Meghan has made investments in two small, female-run businesses: the financial services firm Ethic and the coffee brand Clevr.

“Pop-up adaptogenic coffee bar” Clevr’s plant-based drinks are full of natural health benefits. Additionally, the brand is socially conscious, putting its trust in honest and ethical supply chains and contributing a portion of its profits to “equitable food systems”.

How Harry inspired Meghan

Speaking to Fortune about her investment, Meghan—who has starred in an advertisement for the company—explained, saying, “This investment is in support of a passionate female entrepreneur who prioritises building community alongside her business.”

“I’m proud to invest in Hannah’s commitment to sourcing ethical ingredients and creating a product that I personally love and has a holistic approach.”

Regarding her upbringing and the rationale behind her Ethic investment, Meghan said to Dealbook: “You don’t talk about investing in the world I come from, right? Investing is not a luxury for you. That sounds very elegant. For years, my spouse has been saying, “Gosh, don’t you wish there was a place where you could put your money to that same sort of thing if your values were aligned like this?”

Prince Archie will turn five on May 6

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, her two small children, were probably in school and nursery together.

On Monday, May 6, Archie will turn five, and it’s likely that Meghan and Harry will join him in celebrating.

Harry is scheduled to travel to the UK the next day to attend the Invictus Games 10th Anniversary Service, which is scheduled to take place on May 8 at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral.

While Harry’s presence is still unknown—reports also suggest he might decide to participate via video call—the Duchess of Sussex and their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are highly unlikely to be present.
