King Charles and the Prince of Wales shared a heartfelt new photo together in memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II, which delighted royal fans.
The pair’s exceptional father-son interaction was documented to celebrate the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative, a tree-planting project that was started in May 2021 in advance of the late Queen’s then-imminent Platinum Jubilee. In the endorsing image, King Charles and Prince William planted a tree together while donning their outerwear and wellies.

“It is hard to believe that two years have passed since my mother and I planted a tree in Windsor Great Park to mark the beginning of the Queen’s Green Canopy,” the monarch said in one of his few public remarks about his mother since her passing.
I especially wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone from across the United Kingdom who has helped plant over three million trees to create an enduring legacy in Queen Elizabeth’s name as the second planting season draws to a close, Charles continued.
“This project has demonstrated how modest, useful, and kind actions can have a significant impact, and I can think of no more appropriate tribute to Her Late Majesty’s 70-year reign.”

Following the release of the family photo, royal fans immediately commented on the cordial working relationship and close family ties between King Charles and Prince William.
One supporter wrote: “Aw what a lovely picture and wonderful way to end a significant project that really helped the planet with millions of trees planted,” and another added: “A poignant symbol. Wonderful and touching.
“These two photographs’ side-by-side comparison is so moving. Another royal admirer chimed in, “So pleased that Charles has William as a son and as an heir.

King Charles’ relationship with his eldest son William is still strong, but his relationship with his youngest son, Prince Harry, appears strained in the wake of Prince Harry’s shocking memoir, Spare.
The coronation of King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla on Saturday, May 6, is yet to be announced, but it has been confirmed that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have been invited.
