At a new bookstore in Summerland, Santa Barbara, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hosted a small gathering of their closest friends on Friday night.
New images released by best-selling author and royal style expert Elizabeth Holmes reveal Meghan was joined by Prince Harry for the family and friends party at Godmothers last Friday, even though she was on stage with Oprah Winfrey for the panel discussion on Saturday.
For the event, the couple dressed in cream. The Duchess wore a matching tank top and wide-legged Ralph Lauren pants, while the Duke looked put together in a linen shirt, chinos, and tan suede loafers.
For the literary event on Saturday, Meghan wore her hair up in a sophisticated ponytail and a chic black tuxedo-style jumpsuit from Club Monaco. For the reception on Friday, however, she went with loose waves and smoky eye makeup lined with kohl.
Her delicate gold bracelets and Logan Hollowell’s diamond tennis necklace completed her look.
In addition to Oprah, who also resides in Montecito, comedian Ellen DeGeneres and her spouse Portia de Rossi also joined the Sussexes.
Godmothers, a dreamy new bookstore and social space co-founded by literary agent Victoria Jackson and cosmetics mogul Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, is located in a white barn near a beach café in the charming ocean enclave of Summerland, just a short drive from Harry and Meghan’s Montecito home.
According to Town & Country, Harry came up with the idea for the name while referring to Jennifer, Victoria, and Oprah as his “fairy godmothers” at his own book signing in Beverly Hills for his memoir, Spare.
The store’s “Our Local Authors” display features books by Oprah and Ellen in addition to Harry’s autobiography and Meghan’s children’s book, The Bench.
Only one week before Harry’s 40th birthday on Sunday, September 15, the Sussexes went on a joint outing.
According to birthday plans that were exclusively made public to HELLO!, the Duke will celebrate turning 50 with a get-together at his and Meghan’s California home for their kids, Princess Lilibet, 3, and Prince Archie, 5.
Along with his closest friends, Harry will relish spending a weekend in the mountains.
