A special message from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to Sir Elton John in honor of his retirement has been shared.
The couple unexpectedly appeared on the Disney+ streaming service’s Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger program.
They were among the famous people who paid tribute to Sir Elton before his farewell concert, which the US streaming service broadcast live from California’s Dodger Stadium in the wee hours of Monday.
First to speak was Meghan, who was wearing red. She said: “Hi Elton, we just wanted to say congratulations and that we are just so proud of you and that we were also able to see you on your farewell tour.”
Harry continued by mentioning his relationship with his late mother, Princess Diana, and the couple’s friendship with Elton.
“And thank you for keeping everyone entertained for so many years, for being the friend that you were for my mother, for being our friend, for being a friend to our kids, and for keeping people entertained all over the world.
Even though this is your last job, we know that it won’t be your last; nonetheless, we want to wish you a happy retirement and congrats on a fantastic career.
At the conclusion of the video, a beaming Meghan places her head on Harry’s shoulder before giving the camera a kiss.
The couple’s Archewell organization’s logo is just barely visible on the doors behind them in the video, which appears to have been filmed outside the company’s offices.
Harry and Meghan are known to be close friends with Elton. Back in August 2019, the couple came under fire for using a private jet, and the singer of the song “Rocket Man” defended them.
Elton posted a defiant message on Twitter, saying: “I am deeply distressed by today’s distorted and malicious account in the press surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s private stay at my home in Nice last week.”
The prince’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, was one of my closest friends, the prince continued. I have a strong moral obligation to shield Harry and his family from the unwarranted press encroachment that led to Diana’s premature passing.
“David and I wanted the young family to have a private holiday inside the safety and tranquility of our home after a busy year of continuing their hard work and devotion to charity.
“We gave them a private jet flight in order to maintain a high level of crucial protection. We made the necessary contribution to Carbon Footprint to ensure their flight was carbon neutral in support of Prince Harry’s environmental commitment.
