The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have embraced country life with their two young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and have an impressive five acres to explore at their home in Montecito, California.

Not only can the family stay in their own privacy and use amenities like a tennis court and swimming pool, but they can also spend quality time with farm animals like hens.

During their Oprah interview and Netflix docuseries, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle flaunted their ‘Archie’s Chick Inn’ chicken coop. As the name implies, there is a specific fan of the garden feature.

At feeding time, the little boy stood inside the coop, watching the chickens, wearing blue jeans tucked into his waterproof boots. He held a wicker basket, which we assumed was filled with food.

On another occasion, he appeared just as carefree while peering through a wire fence, probably to see more animals, wearing blue sweatpants, black sneakers, and a chunky knit beige sweater.

Royals adopting Ellen DeGeneres’ chicken

When the royal family adopted Ellen DeGeneres’ pet chicken, they already had a large flock of their own. The 66-year-old disclosed that Sinkie, her chicken, was receiving special attention following a fractured fibula.

“Sinkie had to be placed in a new home despite having her leg fixed because our hens were still harassing her. Fortunately, there was space in our friends Harry and Meghan’s coop for one more. Her royal title is yet to be determined.

She wrote on Instagram, “Thanks Dr. Christine Sellers for your excellent care of Sinkie,” accompanied by a picture of the black chicken outside her home’s striking red wooden structure.

Ellen posted a video of Sinkie getting comfortable in the Sussexes’ coop with their chickens after she was adopted. The caption read, “Update: Sinkie is fitting right in at her new home,” and Meghan appeared to greet the animal as it approached the camera.

Montecito home

In 2020, Harry and Meghan took a step back as senior royals before moving into their $14 million home, the Chateau of Riven Rock, in Montecito.

They have previously shared a few images and videos taken inside the six-bedroom, twelve-bathroom home. Before Harry revealed that his wife had “always wanted chickens,” one revealed that the chicken coop boasts a sign that reads “Established 2021.”

The couple maintained some privacy while filming their Netflix series, even though they shared a ton of never-before-seen family photos with one another. They supposedly drove ten minutes further down the street to film in a $33 million mansion featuring a chicken coop, a citrus orchard, and six bedrooms.
