Following the passing of the Queen on Thursday, Prince William and Kate, who are now known as Prince and Princess of Wales, made a surprise appearance in Windsor. They were joined for the touching outing by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
After receiving a personal invitation from the Prince of Wales, Harry and Meghan joined the group.
They greeted mourners gathered to pay tribute to the 96-year-old monarch who passed away “peacefully” in Balmoral.
The royals, who were all dressed in black, appeared solemn as they paused to shake the hands of distraught supporters who were lined up behind a barrier. As they maneuvered through the throngs, they were surrounded by police security.
While Princes William and Harry wore black suits, the two royal ladies both chose classy black dresses.
People cheered when they saw William, Kate, and Meghan shaking hands with members of the public alongside the royal couples. A crying child stopped when the Princess of Wales got closer to it.
William was once presented with a miniature Paddington Bear toy after the late monarch won over the public with a skit starring the beloved character during her Jubilee celebrations.
While speaking to people on the opposite sides of the street, the royal couples moved apart from one another as they walked.
After Queen Elizabeth II passed away at age 96 while being attended by members of her immediate family, they went on a surprise outing. Kate and William posted a statement on their social media accounts after being deeply saddened by the news.
The pair wrote on Instagram as follows: “The Queen passed away peacefully this afternoon at Balmoral. The King and the Queen Consort will spend this evening and tomorrow at Balmoral before departing for London.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge are now how Prince William and Kate are addressed on Twitter by the Kensington Royal account @KensingtonRoyal.
Elizabeth II, who is now 96, held the title of longest-reigning monarch in the country for more than 70 years. As soon as his mother passed away, the Prince of Wales immediately assumed the role of King.
It is His Majesty The King’s wish that a period of Royal Mourning be observed following the passing of Her Majesty The Queen from this moment on until seven days after The Queen’s Funeral.
