On Thursday evening, Prince William and Princess Catherine mingled with celebrities such as Tom Cruise at the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in Leicester Square, London.
William and Kate enjoyed a glitzy night out in the capital, and it appears that their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were disappointed to miss out, based on the future King’s comments.
“He asked me what I liked about the last one, the things I like, if I like jets and planes and motorbikes,” Alfie Everett-Fletcher, nine, later revealed at the cinema.
William told Alfie that he is a “big fan” of the film and “cars and stuff,” and that his own children were “envious” that he was unable to attend the premiere. “He said they have had the theme tune for the film playing with their kids,” Alfie’s mother Elise Everett added.
Poppy Saunders, 11, was tasked with delivering a bouquet of flowers to the Duchess outside the auditorium. “She said ‘hello Poppy’ as I handed her the flowers and shook her hand. She talked about how much the kids enjoy the movie as well “revealed the young schoolgirl.
“She said she liked sweet peas because there were sweet peas in the flowers,” her mother Linsay Saunders added. Kate also told them that George, Charlotte, and Louis “wished they were here tonight,” according to Ms Saunders.
As they walked down the red carpet in London, William and Kate were greeted with applause and camera flashes. The Duchess was dressed in a stunning Roland Mouret gown with a bardot neckline. Kate wore a black column gown with a white band across the top that highlighted her collarbones. She wore 14kt white gold Robinson Pelham Tsar Star diamond earrings.
Although William looked dashing in his McQueen suit, it was his C&J shoes, which were emblazoned with an F-15 fighter jet, similar to those seen in the film.
In addition to being escorted down the red carpet by protagonist Tom, the royals met with Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Greg Tarzan Davies, Glen Powell, Jay Ellis, Danny Ramirez, and Lewis Pullman, among others.
