It came as no surprise when Prince William and Princess Catherine brought their children Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte to opulent French resort Courcheval in April 2022 to introduce them to the sport. Both are avid skiers who have been hitting the slopes since they were young children.
Their choice of the resort was not just based on their love of the slopes; Princess Catherine and Prince William have special memories of Courcheval. Since they traveled there with Prince George and Princess Charlotte for the first time as a family of four in 2016 and also frequently before they got married, it is probably a special place for them.
The Wales family didn’t make a public announcement about their ski trip last year, but a number of Twitter and Instagram users reported seeing the royals out and about and dining in mountain restaurants.
Given that they were able to keep the trip relatively under wraps, we suspect they’ll try to recreate it over the Easter holiday, especially given that the family has had a difficult year with the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September and the publication of Prince Harry’s shocking memoir, Spare.
Given that official photos from their 2016 trip show Charlotte and George posing with their parents against snowy backdrops, it is likely that Charlotte and George have positive memories of Courcheval.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are excited to share new family photos, according to a statement at the time. The pictures depict Their Royal Highnesses taking their kids on a quick skiing trip in the French Alps.
“This was their first holiday as a four-person family, and neither of the kids had ever played in the snow before. For the family, it was a very special and enjoyable short vacation, and they are appreciative that John Stillwell [the PA photographer] was able to perfectly capture the moment. The Duke and Duchess wish everyone good viewing.
Later, it was revealed that the family had flown on the private jet of the Duke of Westminster.
