Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued a message on their Archewell charity website, condemning Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
The message, which was shared on Thursday night, read: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and all of us at Archewell stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of international and humanitarian law and encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same.”
It’s the couple’s first website update of the year, with the last one coming in November, and it comes just days after Boris Johnson spoke out against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Other members of the royal family have remained silent in the face of the crisis.
The statement was released on the same day that it was announced that Harry and Meghan will be honored at the NAACP Image Awards for their commitment to social justice.
The award, which has previously been given to Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, Colin Powell, LeBron James, Rihanna, Jay-Z, and Lauryn Hill, recognizes special achievement and distinguished public service and has previously been given to Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, Colin Powell, LeBron James, Rihanna, Jay-Z, and Lauryn Hill.
They said it was a “true honor” and that the US civil rights organization’s efforts on racial justice were “vital today as they were nearly 115 years ago” in a joint statement.
“We’re proud to support the NAACP’s work and to collaborate with them on the newly created annual NAACP-Archewell Digital Civil Rights Award, which will be given to Dr. Safiya Noble at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards,” they said.
“We’re thrilled to present this award to Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who together have heeded the call to social justice and have joined the struggle for equity both in the US and around the world,” said Derrick Johnson, president of the NAACP.

The NAACP-Archewell Digital Civil Rights Award honors individuals who are working to bring about “transformational change at the intersection of social justice and technology.”
I used to be an avid watcher of the news because I liked to be informed of what was going on around the world. However, since I haven’t watched the new in almost 9 months, I am not knowledgeable about what is going on between Russia and the Ukraine. From the scraps of information that I do have, it sounds like a humanitarian issue and if it is, I support Harry in his support of the Ukraine and its people. I also commend both Harry and Meghan for their continued work in pursuing equality and social justice around the globe. Acknowledgement of their efforts by the NAACP is well deserved. I support it, as well.
Wonderful seeing that Harry and Meghan’s focus is on serious matters and not the cost of an outfit, or if someone was following some archaic protocol.
