The Duke of Sussex and his daughter Princess Lilibet have a special month in June.
On June 4, Lilibet, who was given the name Queen Elizabeth II in honor of Prince Harry’s late grandmother, will turn two. On June 18, the Duke will observe Father’s Day.
Harry and Meghan shared a behind-the-scenes look at their family life in their Netflix documentary and in Harry’s memoir, Spare, even though Archie, 4, and Lilibet are growing up out of the spotlight.
Lilibet’s birth
At the time of his daughter’s birth at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in June 2021, Harry described the moment he helped bring his daughter into the world.
The doctor told him it would only take a few minutes, so he told his wife, Meg, that he wanted to be the first face our daughter saw.
I slid my hands under the tiny back and neck, the Duke continued. I drew our precious daughter from that world into this one gently but firmly, as I had seen in movies. I held her for a brief moment while trying to smile at her and see her, but I couldn’t see anything. Hello, I wanted to say. I wanted to ask: From where are you? I wanted to ask: Is that place better? Is it tranquil? Do you feel afraid? All will be well, so don’t be, don’t be. I’ll protect you.
In their docuseries, the Sussexes previously shared a sweet black-and-white image of Harry kissing his newborn daughter.
Lilibet’s first Christmas
Harry and Meghan’s 2021 Christmas card featured Lilibet’s first-ever official photograph.
While being held up by her mother Meghan, the six-month-old giggled, and Harry was seen beaming at his daughter.
The card’s message was “Happy Holidays. We welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, into the world in this year, 2021. Lili united us as a family, and Archie gave us a “Mama” and “Papa.”
Lilibet’s first birthday
As the Sussexes traveled to London for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, they also celebrated Lilibet’s first birthday there. The children were not publicly pictured, but Harry and Meghan did share a cute photo of the birthday girl, taken by their friend and photographer Misan Harriman while she was celebrating her special day at their Windsor home, Frogmore Cottage.
The couple shared video from Lilibet’s birthday celebration when the Netflix documentary was released, showing proud dad Harry lighting the candle on a pink tiered cake as guests sang Happy Birthday.
A different picture of the family of four in the Frogmore gardens shows little Lilibet being carried on her father’s shoulders while Meghan smiles and watches.
Harry reading to Archie and Lilibet
The Netflix documentary featured many endearing family moments, including Harry and Archie playing football and a father and son spotting hummingbirds in their Montecito home’s garden.
Another endearing image shows Harry reading his children a bedtime story while Lilibet sits on his lap and Archie cuddles up to his father.
