During the coronation of King Charles at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, Prince Harry and Princess Anne were seen exchanging tender glances.
The Duke of Sussex, who traveled from California to attend the historic ceremony, was chatting with his aunt while seated in the third row with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
Harry could be seen grinning at his aunt as she moved to take a seat. A lip reader claimed that he said, “I don’t mind,” possibly in response to Anne’s remark about his seated position.
Later, he says: “Sit at the front!”
Thistle Mantle, Thistle Collar, Garter Sash, Thistle Star, GCVO Star, full-sized medals, KCVO Star, and Companion of the Order of the Bath neck decoration were all part of the Princess Royal’s Blues and Royals uniform that she wore to the occasion. Harry, meanwhile, dressed in a morning suit for the event.
The country’s first coronation in 70 years saw King Charles and Queen Camilla crowned in front of 2,300 guests at the coronation ceremony.
Before the two royals were crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the ceremony, which started at 11 a.m., went through several stages. Here you can read about the entire service and crowning.
The Prince of Wales preformed his ceremonial duties in front of his father at one point during the service. After being crowned, Prince William, the King’s eldest son, approached him and recited: “I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you and faith and truth I will bear unto you, as your liege man of life and limb.” The King appeared emotional. God please help me. The father-of-three then kissed King Charles in a heartbreaking gesture.
King Charles and Queen Camilla left the ceremony and began their coronation procession back to Buckingham Palace, where they gathered with senior members of the royal family, such as the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, to watch the flypast.
When the service was over, Harry—who had just arrived in the UK—left right away. The 38-year-old was taken right away to Heathrow Airport, where he took a plane back to California, where his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were commemorating the fourth birthday of their oldest.
